31 for 21: Here we go again

Toddler's arm with hospital wristband on it

This is last week’s hospital arm band. Raphael had an unpleasant barium swallow study last Friday, which I’ll have to write about some other time. It wore us both out. Physically for him. Emotionally for me.

We’ll be back at the hospital tomorrow morning for a multi-hour visit with multiple specialists. It should be easier, especially since Greg is joining me as is Raphael’s occupational therapist.

Nevertheless, I’m sure it will be exhausting. Children’s Hospital just does that to me.

I love it desperately for saving my boy’s life and for so much that its dedicated staff does. I just wish we weren’t such frequent flyers.

In honor of Down syndrome awareness month, I am trying to post to this blog every day for 31 days (or at least 31 times in October) to increase awareness of Trisomy 21, the most common genetic condition that causes the syndrome.
